Ice Skating at Sainte-Thérèse de Gaspé (16 minutes from the cottage) For a more relaxing activity, ice skating is an excellent option. The OTJ of Sainte-Thérèse de Gaspé, just 16 minutes from Domaine du Capitaine, offers free skate and hockey sessions. Check their Facebook page for schedules to enjoy this activity in a friendly atmosphere.
Cross-Country Skiing at Chalet du Pont-Rouge (20 minutes from the cottage) Just 20 minutes from Domaine du Capitaine, the Chalet Pont-Rouge Cross-Country Ski Club in Sainte-Thérèse offers a network of trails suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced skiers. With two trail areas, one covering 25 km and the other 15 km, you can enjoy this activity in a beautiful natural setting. Rental equipment is available on-site.
Apéro at Pub Air Salin (5 minutes from the cottage) After a day of outdoor adventures, why not explore the local flavors? Pub Air Salin, formerly known as Pit Caribou, offers a variety of craft beers to enjoy at its pub in downtown Percé. Take in the warm atmosphere and the beautiful view of the beach while sharing a drink with fellow nature enthusiasts.
Ski Hok and Snowshoeing on the Sentiers du Géoparc de Percé (8 minutes from the cottage) The Géoparc de Percé is not just a place to explore in the summer with its glass platform offering a spectacular view of the Rock; it is also an ideal playground for snow lovers. In winter, its 18 km of snow-covered trails are perfect for snowshoeing or trying out Hok skis. Explore the Mont Blanc area on Hok skis, a fun and accessible way to glide through the rolling forest. If you prefer snowshoeing, you’ll find many groomed trails in this exceptional natural setting. Hok skis are available for rent at Camp de base Coin-du-Banc.
Maple Syrup Season at the Sugar Shack by the Sea (12 minutes from the cottage, in April) Every year in April, a collaboration between Camp de Base Coin-du-Banc and the Érablière Côté Sucré creates Quebec’s only “sugar shack by the sea”! Enjoy this sweet experience in a festive and maritime atmosphere at the restaurant of the Auberge du Camp de Base. With its checkered tablecloths and traditional decor, this event allows you to taste the delights of maple syrup in a spectacular seaside setting. The dates for the sugar season vary each year, so don’t forget to check the event’s dates, which typically take place in April.
Snowshoeing at Pointe Saint-Pierre (27 minutes from the cottage) Pointe Saint-Pierre, located halfway between Gaspé and Percé, is a must-see spot in the Gaspé Peninsula. This site, facing east, offers a breathtaking view of Forillon National Park and the Percé Rock, often shrouded in winter mist. On snowshoes, you can explore its wooded trails, snowy meadows, and coastal cliffs, all while admiring the seabird colonies moving between the ice drifts. A true natural spectacle!
